We've written mountains of letters, sent tons of emails and faxes, made calls, and gone to endless rallies, tea parties and townhall meetings. We've told our elected representatives in no uncertain terms and in overwhelming numbers that we didn’t want TARP, bailouts, stimulus earmarks, huge debt or corporate takeovers.
They have ignored us.
So how do we get them to listen?
The Answer: We need a BIG hammer (and lots of people to swing it)!
The hammer is a petition.
Not just any petition, but a petition they can’t ignore.
A petition demanding that the Governor of Texas (or your state) appoint a commission to study and make recommendations to him for how the citizens of Texas may immediately assert and reclaim our right of state sovereignty.
The commission will advise the governor on reclaiming our rights by utilizing any of four increasingly stronger historical precedents: resolution, interposition, nullification and the threat of secession. The petition sends a loud and clear message to Washington that we have had all we can take of their unconstitutional acts, the explosive growth of the federal government and the rapid erosion of our individual and states’ rights.
We are NOT endorsing or calling for Secession.
However, if the situation were to rapidly change we need to have already carefully researched and analyzed all the myriad considerations that might arise, and need to have a thoroughly prepared plan of action. The very existence of a commission charged to study the implications of a possible peaceful, negotiated secession sends an unmistakable message to Washington that we’re serious and we are prepared to do whatever is necessary to assert our state’s rights. It is our hope and expectation that we’ll never need to even rattle that saber; however, it’s a weapon that we must carry into battle if we expect Washington to pay attention. We’ve already seen that everything else (tea parties, emails, etc.) are completely ignored or—worse—ridiculed.
Texas will take the lead in this initiative, but citizens in many other states are fed up and are already joining us. In order for this petition to be successful, we need your help. Please download a copy of both pages of the petition, make copies, distribute them to everyone you know, and do all you can to gather as many signatures as possible.
A Note to Those for Whom “Secession” is a Four-letter Word
Please ask yourself honestly, "under what conditions would I ever consider secession?
* If gun confiscation begins?
* If our government starts printing money like Zimbabwe or the Weimar Republic?
* If martial law is declared without legitimate justification?
* Under any circumstances whatsoever?
If there were any circumstances under which you would consider a peaceful, negotiated secession, would it not be prudent to have a well-conceived plan already in place for achieving that end and for addressing the myriad issues that would arise?
Our petition specifically states that its signatories are not advocating or endorsing secession. The measures we are asking the Texas Sovereignty Commission to investigate are meant to be preparatory in nature and we pray never to be invoked.
